Amazing

This app has an expensive database of videos.wow!!!

I just upgraded my subscription!

I love this app! Its expensive if you want to have all the features for every video, but you learn so much, and it uses real vocabulary that native speakers use. You can download it for free and still access some videos, but I found I got bored with the free subscription videos after awhile.

For all learning types!

I love that this app uses video and audio as well as repetition to help you learn! I wish it had more language options.

Great Language App

I love the diversity of the videos. The repetition and testing are great for really building vocabulary quickly. Im at an intermediate level in French, and also very much like that it helps with oral comprehension. For grammar, I use Kwizbot. But FluentU is quickly building my vocabulary and training my ear. I plan to upgrade to a full subscription.

Excellent app for learning Japanese

Combining audio and text For me is the best way to learn the correct Japanese pronunciation . Also the kanji comes with hiragana and in-app dictionary . Video content of The App is interesting to watch . There are funny Japanese Ads and kid songs they are short videos Suitable for beginners like me. I didnt upgrade my account yet , but still find the App useful. there are lot of free videos. Give it a Try for free and when you see yourself progressing and need more interesting videos you can upgrade.

I didnt know you had to pay !!

Once your free trial ends do you have to pay the expensive amount cause Im broke. Need help !!

Challenging and convenient

I dont usually download language apps anymore because they usually start at beginner level and dont really help you remember what youve learned. So far I really like this app because you can start at your level and the repetition helps remember words. I also like that the actors talk their normal fast pace because it pushes you to pay attention and think fast. Another thing I love is the convenience of adding any words to your vocabulary. Highly recommend this for people who want to challenge themselves and really use what theyve learned.

Helpful

I like it and find it helpful in shoring up my intermediate reading and listening abilities. I look forward to practicing because the lessons are contextual and concise.

Great, but Expensive...

The learning techniques used are amazing! Not only do they provide context but they help reinforce concepts with a fun variety of repetitive exercises. The only downside I would say is the price versus selection rate. Honestly in order to make the app worth its use you have to upgrade, which is $30/ month. Given what I believe to be its effectiveness I dont really mind, but even at the upgraded level I wish there was more selection. I personally love the Disney videos, since not only do I know them in English but also, the vocabulary and grammar is all still pretty relevant at the intermediate level; however their selection is limited to about a dozen... Unfortunately this program is so good that once you master something youre looking to move on right away!! My study abroad leaves in a week so well see how truly effective it is then, in the meantime I hope there are more songs to sing along to when I get back!

Not just realistic violence

One of the video exercises for Spanish shows actual dead people with blood. Im not interested in learning south of the boarder culture, only the language. If Latin America is this flagrant with murder and death, Im glad I learned about it through this this app rather than ever visit. Also, other video exercises are biased politically and not comfortable for all to watch and repeat. Nice concept, just ditch the agenda.

Fluent U

Im glad I find this app after coming across useless apps.

Great!

Its extremely helpful and gives explicit details and explanations

Would be good but talks too fast

You can only modify the speech in some parts, in others it just talks way to fast. Deleting and looking for something else.

Great idea

I love the idea of this app, and so far its been a good learning experience. However, the app can be a little glitchy--I often have to restart it to get a video to play correctly. But I understand its pretty new so the kinks are still getting worked out. Also, the price is pretty high. I feel like for 15/month you should be able to access everything the service has to offer, but unfortunately 30/month for the whole package just doesnt seem worth it. I hope they are able to make some improvements to the app and maybe lower the price!

Not very useful for beginner

The videos may be helpful for more advanced students, but they are confusing and frustrating for a beginner. WARNING: You will be charged for a subscription if you dont take action to cancel after the free trial period. You will have to go to the website to do this. Be careful!

Pretty good for studying mandarin

Been using this in combination with skitter for studying Mandarin Chinese. This app excels in helping you construct sentences out of Chinese at the right intervals to build long term memory. A bit lacking when it comes to learning characters and the audio examples are t that great. UI is a bit confusing too needs to be updated for iPhone 6. Still, overall a solid app for daily usage building up some vocab for a foreign language!

Great

This app helped me understand word order in German more than all the others.

Really great!

One of the best apps to learn and practice other languages. For me the #1.

Outstanding!

I greatly enjoy this language learning app! It focuses on something that many apps put too little emphasis on which is comprehension. This app contains videos with subtitles, translations, and vocabulary that you are able to save to memorize and build up your vocabulary. I highly recommend FluentU!

Deceptive

I got set to start using this app when it told my I could use it for free 15 days. Nothing in the app description tells me there will be a charge. Nothing tells me what the eventual charge will be. I dont like being decided.
